Technical Peer Review

No expert report is ever released without a comprehensive technical peer review. A second, independent forensic examiner actively verifies the primary examiner’s methodology, tests their tool outputs, and confirms that the technical conclusions are supported by the raw data.

Forensic Tool Validation

Commercial forensic software frequently updates and occasionally contains bugs. We do not blindly trust software outputs. We maintain a rigorous tool validation protocol, routinely testing software against known data sets to verify that it correctly interprets file systems and parses artefacts.

Contemporaneous Documentation

Our examiners maintain detailed, contemporaneous notes during every examination. If challenged in court months or years later, we possess the precise audit trails, tool logs, and step-by-step documentation required to prove exactly how an artefact was acquired and interpreted.

Why QA Matters in Forensics

Standard IT practices are fundamentally incompatible with digital forensics. In general IT, the goal is simply to make a system work or recover data. In digital forensics, the goal is to recover data in a manner that proves exactly how, when, and by whom that data was created, while ensuring the original source remains mathematically unaltered.

Without a strict Quality Assurance framework, an examiner is simply trusting a software tool. If that tool misinterprets a timestamp or misattributes a deleted file, an innocent person could be convicted, or a guilty party could escape liability. Our QA process exists to eliminate that risk.
