Short answer: Most Triage Forensics reports are delivered in days rather than weeks. Standard single-device matters typically take 3–10 business days, and urgent matters can often be turned around within 1–3 business days. We confirm the timeframe for your matter before any work starts.

Rather than repeat the general factors that affect turnaround (they’re covered in our full guide to forensic report delivery timelines), this page walks through what actually happens between your first call and the finished report, and where time is won or lost.

From first call to finished report

1. The first conversation (same day). You tell us what device or footage you have, what you need to know, and when you need it. We tell you whether it’s achievable and give you a confirmed delivery date.

2. Getting the device to us. This is often the biggest variable. A phone couriered or dropped off the same day keeps the clock short; a device that sits in a drawer for a week does not, and continued use can overwrite recoverable data in the meantime.

3. Preservation and extraction. The device is secured and a verified forensic copy is made. For a typical single phone this is measured in hours, not days.

4. Analysis against your questions. This is where scope matters most. “Were there messages between these two people in March?” is answered far faster than “tell us everything on the phone”.

5. Reporting and quality review. Findings are written up in plain language and checked before release, so the report can stand up if it’s later challenged.

Three things that slow a report down

  • An unclear question. Without a defined scope, analysis expands to fill the time available.
  • Missing passcodes or account details. Locked devices can still often be examined, but access issues add time.
  • Late-changing deadlines. Tell us your real deadline at the start, not the day before.

When urgent really means urgent

If a hearing, a dismissal decision or a filing date is days away, say so on the first call. Urgent matters can often be completed within 1–3 business days, and we’ll tell you honestly if a deadline isn’t realistic for the scope you need, so you can narrow the questions or plan around it.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can a forensic report be delivered?

Most reports are delivered in days rather than weeks. Standard single-device requests typically take 3–10 business days, and urgent matters can often be turned around within 1–3 business days, depending on the device and scope.

What affects turnaround time?

The type and number of devices, the questions asked, the evidence volume, how quickly the device reaches us, and whether findings must meet full courtroom verification standards with a documented chain of custody.
